A bathroom or washroom is usually a room, usually in a house or other residential structure, which features either a bath or a shower. The addition of a wash basin to a bathroom can be quite common. Wash basins are available in various shapes and designs, and depending on the budget, they can be expensive too. Bathrooms are not only used for bathing; many now also serve as saunas, relaxation rooms, Jacuzzi rooms and more. The basin they contain will depend on its role, some very functional and others to simply create a pleasant environment.

There are several different types of bathrooms, each having its own specific set of functions. However, the most common and most important one is the bathroom containing a toilet. This is where all the personal hygiene necessities are taken care of – in case of an emergency, all one has to do is flush the toilet to empty the waste. In the majority of houses, this room is located in the main part of the house and is often called the ‘personal area’. It can therefore be considered as the most important area in a house, housing all the necessary equipment for its frequent usage.

As for the choice of bathroom accessories, there are numerous options. A personal hygiene soap dispenser is always a welcome sight in any bathroom. Most people have at least one such dispenser, to avoid having to use the toilet every time they want to clean themselves. Some of the more advanced models even have temperature controls to enable users to set the correct temperature for their skin type. Some can even dry their face with a towel in the sink.

It’s important to have a bathroom that suits your personal tastes and style. Bathroom sinks come in all shapes and sizes, from oval, rectangular, circular, square or round, and there are a lot of styles to choose from too. The most popular shapes are round and square, since they are easy to mount on the wall, and require less plumbing work. Shower stalls are another common accessory, usually mounted on the side of the toilet and shower heads usually go on top of them.

You could opt for an electric bath or waterless bath, which saves water by not using hot water when washing the hair or shaving. If you don’t like the idea of either one of those, you could try a powder room. A powder room is simply a box containing powder, which you mix with water. It’s a great way to get your daily hair and skin care needs met in the comfort of your own home. Powder rooms are available in many shapes, such as squares and triangle, but the most common shape is the octagon.

No matter what you decide, if you want to create a unique and specialised bathroom, you should start by choosing the right fittings. For example, if you want a bathroom that has a contemporary look, then you should consider using a modern toilet, such as the whirlpool type. A modern toilet will also have more hygiene options, such as automatic flushing, hand held showers and soap dispensers. If you want a more traditional styled bathroom, you could choose a vintage design or an antique vanity, but even these will still feature some element of your own design.
